Salmon in the Classroom
Salmon in the classroom is a program that our club has partnered up with Rockford East Middle to raise salmon eggs into small fry. The fish will be released into the Rogue river here in West Michigan when they are smolts. We placed 200 Chinook Salmon eggs into the tank on November 8, 2011 and will be releasing them in the river in May of 2012.
The students at REM are learning about the life cycle of the salmon. They will maintain the tank, monitor water quality levels, and will assist in the release of the salmon into the river.
